Time to Vote

Even though I cannot vote in this election, I still believe the election is important to vote and everyone who can vote should vote not only because it is their civic duty, but because everyone’s vote really does count. Look at Florida in the 2000 election.

This year’s election is really important because of the issues that are being brought up in the election. In this year’s election some of the main issues on the line:

· Abortion

· Economic stimulus

· Energy

· Immigration

· Taxes

· War in the Middle East

Another reason why this election is so important is because statically showing this election will be the most young people voting in history. I believe this is important because I think that young people need to understand where they stand on all the issues and which candidate stands more on their same preference. Some young people consider that they should be the same as their parents or they make judgments on candidates based on other things then the issues. When someone is voting they need to consider that they will being putting there vote to a four year plan and that the issues are they only thing that is important. Finally, the future president needs to be globally known and respect because we are choosing a leader to represent us as a leader of the United States of America.
This is why I think this is election is so important and what people need to take into consideration

Midterms!

Midterms are next week. What have I learned so far this year? How will I study for midterms?

So far this year I have learned so much for all my classes. To begin with in my Yoga Class I have learned how to de-stress my life and relax. Then in Japanese I have learned how different our culture is from theirs. In Personal Finance I learned how to better budget myself. Converse 101 has taught me that there are many ways on dealing with stress and how to manage your time. Introduction to fitness and wellness made me realize that I need to change my life to find a balance in my health and wellness. Finally, in my computer class I learned some basic programming Knowledge. Well what about Ideas and Culture?

Ideas and Culture midterm is on Thursday the ninth of October. I have a plan though on how to study for the midterm term. My professor gave us a study guide for the exams. On the exams there is going to be three essay questions, compare and contrast questions, true/false, and match the characters. I plan to write one sample essay a night starting on Monday. On compare and contrast I will work on each point over the week understanding both points of view. On true and false I will study the books and articles we have read so far getting summaries of each pieces of work. Throughout the week I will also study the characters. That is how I am going to study for my midterm in Ideas and Culture.

Learn about myself

Since I have come to Converse I have learned a lot about myself through the relations I have made with my classmates and others. First, I have figured out that my friends believe in me to help them in situations. For example my friend was really feeling down and she felt I was the best person she could rely on. I have friends that call me mom because I am very "motherly." I have found that I am always thinking safety and what is best for that person. Form my professors I have learned that I'm selectively active. In certain classes I am really confident and am able to speak up easily. While in other classes it is harder for me to understand so I just try to concentrate on understanding the material and forget about asking questions. Finally, my hall mates in general have made me realize I can do anything any time of day. If I need to study at 3:00am then I will study. If there is an even that comes up at the last minute I’ll try to make it and rearrange my schedule. I believe that I am very flexible and am able to time manage well. I have come to the conclusion that over all I am ready to get and stay involved.

Time to Study

Everytime I go into the library to study I go to the same place third floor. Cover the some of the third floor is desk with lights and electric outlet. The environment on the floor is calm and mellow. Not many people go up there for anything and you don't have to worry about getting distracted by noise.

I am happy with the library as my study area. This area really is my ideal place to study because you don't have anyone around you. You wouldn't have anytroubles in getting something you need either.

In whatever environment I'm in it is easier to concentrate in quiet well light areas. This way you are about to see everything clearly and you would not have to be straining your eyes or anything.

I Swear to Tell the Truth the Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth

How would you feel if you had to tell the truth for a day, one whole day? Well that is exactly what I did. I have actually done it since the assignment was given out. See this assignment was easy for me because I grew up knowing that it was better to tell the truth the first time around then get caught up in a lie. I would say though that it is easier telling a friend that you don't mind their shoes then tell them the shoes they have only had for a week are extremely ugly and they need to go buy a different pair of shoes. That was a challenge.

In college it is very important to have academic integrity and honesty. you need to be able to have others trust on you. For example when you live on campus you have to trust that your roommate isn't going to steal anything from you without asking. Then you also have to be able to have the professors to trust you. Next, for most college students work study is involved, so they have to be able to have their employers to trust that they will keep certain things to themselves and that they will be able to get the task at hand done in the time restraint they have.

Organization time

There are always opportunities to be involved within Converse College with all the organization they have. I have found organizations that remind me of organizations that I was involved in high school. Then there are organizations that are new and I am excited about getting involved with organizations I have never been in before.

When I was in high school I was involved in seven major organizations: Yearbook, Student Council, National Honor’s Society, Interact, Science Honor’s Society, and Youth in Government, and Business Professionals of America. Now that I am at Converse I am looking into joining some of that goes allow the lines of the organizations I was involved in, in school. The first organization I am really interested in is Y’s and Other Y’s. I love writing and taking pictures for the yearbook. In addition I do Photoshop which yearbook does a lot of work in there. Another organization that I like is The Conversationalist because they are the school newspaper and I use to help my high school with the newspaper. Volunteering in my community has always been a big part of my life and a passion of mine so I like Project serve where they go around and help the community. It is really nice how there are some organizations I am already familiar with and am ready to join and be involved.

College is all about new experiences and that is why I am eager to get involved in new organizations I have never been involved in before. Even though I have always been known as a “fish” from my family I never joined any swim team before. This is why I want to try Tarpon Sharks Synchronized Swimming Club. Then I am really interested in being in the Sign Seekers & CEC organization because I think that sign language should be more available in the classroom since there are thousands of people in America and around the world that is deaf.

Converse has many opportunities available to students and I am hoping to get involved in several of them.

College and Its Life

I knew when I started College that it was going to be completely different than High School, but what did I think my first semester of Converse would be like?
First, I expected college to be academically more challenging. I knew that I would be taking course that would go towards my major or GEP. The professors who taught each of the courses has a passion to that subject, so I knew they would be tough in wanting you to learn it and learn it right. Also, that 15 page essays or research papers were in their range of what they expected us to be able to write about on a certain topic, so I better start typing now to get use to it. College in my first semester would be more challenging academically.
Second, in college I knew there would be all these extra-curricular organizations that I could get involved in. Each organization has a specific purpose in at least one of my passions. For example, I am looking into being involved in Y's and other Y's because I love photography, writing, and I was involved in yearbook at my high school. Involvement in extra-curricular organizations is one thing I am looking forward to in my first semester of high school.
Finally, I expect to have fun at the assortment of activities Converse holds for students and the community. For instance, August 29, 2008 in our Barnet Room Converse held a Back to School Bash in which After August perform. Then there are parties later in the Semester such as our Halloween and Christmas parties. Last but not least our traditions will be so inspiring and exuberant for many years to come.
Converse College will never keep me dull in my first semester of college. In my first year at Converse College there is so much I expect from college. I expect the academics would be more difficult. The extra-curricular organizations will keep me involved in my passions. Once and for all the assortment of activities will keep up the vibe in college.
